LUCKY 14TH FOR CHALLINOR AFTER TWO ACES ON SAME HOLE
Two BOSS watches in two years for former Macclesfield Town footballer
By James Dobbin
Whether he rubbed a lamp or made a deal with the devil, Lady Luck seems to be smiling on Alan Challinor who scored his second ace in just two years – and it was on the same hole.
And the Worsley golfer will have no excuse for being tardy for his next tee-time either, since he received a second limited-edition BOSS watch as recognition for his achievement.
Challinor, 67, scored both of his aces on the 153-yard, par-three 14th at Ellesmere GC, and the 16-handicapper would have also been rewarded with membership of the exclusive Boss Watches H1 Club, had he not already received it last year.
He said: “I’m absolutely chuffed to bits. There are lots of young lads with perfect swings at the club who haven’t had a hole-in-one, but now I’ve had two. Everyone at the club keeps asking me for the time.
“I used to play semi-professional football for Macclesfield Town, but golf isn’t like football, you can’t get angry and play hard when things aren’t going well.
“Some people, good golfers, go through their whole life without ever getting a hole-in-one. It’s a fluke shot really. I just close my eyes and think of England.”
