Perth ace hits club's first par-four hole-in-one of 2014
A Perth man started 2014 in fine fettle when he became the first golfer in the new year to win a limited-edition BOSS watch for scoring a hole-in-one on a par-four hole.
Tony Sullivan, 31, achieved his monster ace on the 280-yard, par-four ninth at Craigie Hill Golf Club, and the 11-handicapper was rewarded with membership of the exclusive BOSS Watches H1 Club and a specially-commissioned, commemorative timepiece.
But it was the fact that Sullivan’s albatross – or double-eagle as it’s referred to on the US tours – was scored on such a long hole that raises the achievement above those of the vast majority of BOSS Watches H1 Club members.
He explained: “I hit my tee shot with the driver and it went down the left-hand side of the fairway and over the bunker. When I got to the green I thought it was over the green … then I checked the hole and it was in!”
