Special moment as current and former lady captain record holes-in-one during same competition
By James Dobbin
Portpatrick Dunskey GC witnessed a rare occurrence recently when a former lady captain and current lady captain both scored holes-in-one in the same club competition … and both received limited-edition BOSS watches as recognition for their perfectly timed achievements.
Kath Donnelly, 69 – a 22-handicapper and former lady captain – scored her ace on the 126-yard, par-three fourth, while 20-handicapper Judith Anderson, 66, the current lady captain, followed up with an ace on the 102-yard, par-three 15th.
Donnelly said: “I hit a three wood off the tee and lost sight of the ball. I searched the rough behind then the green and then my playing partner told me it was in the hole – I couldn’t believe it.
“Later, in the clubhouse, I heard that the game behind us, in which the lady captain was playing, had also had a hole-in-one. So myself – the immediate past lady captain – and the current lady captain, managed to do it in the same medal round. That’s a cause for celebration!”
