Hole In One

Michael John Thompson

12 150 yd 9th June 2018

My hole in one happened during the June Monthly Medal Competition at the par 3 12th hole. I had paid my entrance fee which included the 2's wager on par 3's for balls. On the 10th hole a par 5, I played a provisional ball off the tee because my first shot went into the rough below the Willow trees on the right. The Green Keeper has let the rough grow wild with no chance of finding my original ball, even so I did have a cursory look for it. My 4th shot with a 3 wood from the centre of the fairway went into a copse on the left with the same heavy rough. Provisional ball number 2 my 6th shot went unbelievably to much the same place. After a thorough search with my 2 playing partners neither ball was found. So now with an 'NR' I said to my chums "well I'm still in the two's competition". I played the 11th, a par 4 uneventfully with resignation that my round was over. Now the 12th, I must get it close for a chance of a 2. Played a smooth 6 iron straight for the pin, my partner said he thought it had gone in the hole but couldn't say for sure but his eyesight is superior to mine, I just saw it land on the green. Walked up to the pin and sure enough there was my ball at the bottom of the cup. High 5's all round. The golfing Gods made everything alright.
